Brother is looking at a used bike.

He found a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 650r for 3000. It only has 8k miles and appears to be in really good shape from the pictures. However, the guys says it has been sitting under a tarp most of it's life and I've read that prolonged storage can be really bad for seals and gaskets and the like. Is there anything I should be looking for when we go check it out in person?

Will it start and run ? If so then I'd say it's worth it even if you have to do a little to it here and there... I know of someone that's selling a cbr and a gsxr for 3300 in great condition...

Since it's FI and not carbureted, that makes thing way easier. The seals and gaskets will be okay if the bike looks to be in good shape, but definitely change the change and sprockets.

It's in Baton Rouge so we'll be heading down there Friday morning to check it out. If it runs good, he's gonna pick it up.

Well we managed to talk the guy down from 3k to 2600 and bought the bike. It's got a few scratches here and there and needs new tires but overall it was in really good shape, started and ran with no issues, and made the 4 hour trip back to Monroe without any problems. I'll get a pic up soon.

Looks almost new! It's a nice bike, my friend at Tech has a blue one for his second 650R, his first one was black but he got hit by a car and it was totalled.

I kind of envy him. That bike is so comfortable compared to my R1. Every time I start getting cramped on my bike, I start wishing I was riding his. Then I twist the throttle and forget all about it.
